| The cities of Guelph
and Waterloo are at the
hub of the major concentration of scientific, industrial, educational
and cultural activities in Canada. The Sheridan Park Industrial Research
Centre, and the University of Guelph Research Park are located close to
the universities, and the facilities of several industrial research institutions,
Agriculture Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and
Environment Canada are nearby. In addition to art galleries, symphony
orchestras, small arts theatre groups, and music ensembles, the many cultural
activities in Toronto are within easy reach. The Stratford Festival of Canada, the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the Guelph Spring Festival have all gained international fame, and are nearby for our enjoyment. |
The Region
of Waterloo is well-known for its active Mennonite Community, and
the City of Kitchener boasts
the widely-renowned Farmer's Market and the annual Oktoberfest.
The multi-ethnic constituency of both cities, and the presence of graduate
students representing many foreign countries, add a special flavour and
cosmopolitan atmosphere.![]() Many summer and winter recreational activities such as skiing, sailing, windsurfing, golf and tennis are available locally and to the north at Blue Mountain and the Muskoka Lakes. The Centre also provides many opportunites to associate socially with one another. |
